Burnham Market
Traditional Georgian village situated a few short miles from the North Norfolk Coast
Burnham Market is a unique, traditional Georgian village situated a few miles from the North Norfolk Coast with its famous beaches and coastal walks. The quintessentially English village green is surrounded by period houses mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, charming Norfolk flint cottages and independent shops. These include a fishmonger, butcher, deli, and several boutiques, art galleries and gift shops. There are many good places to eat in the village, including the well-known luxury Hoste hotel and spa. There are some lovely coffee shops and charming local pubs, both in the ‘Burnhams’, Stanhoe and the neighbouring village of Brancaster Staithe, all of which are close in distance.

The sandy beaches of Brancaster and Holkham and the award-winning beach of Wells-next-the-Sea are just a short drive away. For more traditional seaside fun, Hunstanton is only 12 miles along the coast road. There are links golf courses in Heacham, Hunstanton and Brancaster with wonderful views out to sea.
For those who enjoy getting on the water, sailing, canoeing and kayaking tuition is available along the Norfolk Coast at Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Overy Staithe. The stately homes of Holkham Hall Estate and Houghton Hall are both nearby, offering great days out and events for all the family throughout the year whilst enjoying a holiday in North Norfolk.
The North Norfolk coast is a bird watching Mecca at any time of year and just along the coast from Burnham Market is Titchwell Marsh, blessed with diverse habitats including reedbeds, saltmarsh and freshwater lagoons where avocets, bearded tits and marsh harriers nest. There is also a quiet wide sandy beach here, backed by sand dunes and extending for what seems like miles in every direction at low tide, offering extensive views across the Wash.
Coopers Cottage and Plum Tree Cottage are both dog-friendly cottages tucked away next to each other within a private courtyard of seven properties in the south of the village. Wild Strawberry Cottage can also be found within the same courtyard. All three cottages have two designated off-street parking spaces and the centre of the village is a short walk away. Burnham Market, also a favourite haunt of celebrities, is a fabulous base to explore this wonderful part of the North Norfolk Coast.
